To make full use of our day together, there are some simple things that can dramatically improve your experience. They are simple and require very little time. I have included links to blog posts and videos that you can examine in your spare time. I offer two types of information – basic and advanced. The basic stuff covers foundational knowledge that will get you up to speed, quickly. We are all on the Titanic: Withholding treatment known to be effective – by law.

The Titanic was built to withstand water in four of its forward water-tight compartments. Once water went beyond it was inevitable that the ship would sink. The water would win, no matter what efforts were made to stop it.

Well, folks, I told you so. We have reached the cultural fifth compartment. The FDA has now banned ASDs. Those are shock devices – in lovely anklet form – for controlling things like self-harm. Meaning people who gouge their own eyes out and things like that.

Contiguity: The big topic, rarely discussed fully

It’s all about contiguity. Two things are contiguous when they are rubbing up against each other. When a behavior ‘rubs up against’ a consequence, predictability occurs. You say ‘sit’, the dog sits, you say “good dog” and give a treat. Soon, the word ‘sit’ triggers the behavior because the two events – the performance of a specific behavior and the treat – are contiguous.
